Ackerman and Hempel

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Ackerman, Shawnee, announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Ann Ackerman, to Robert (Bob) Hempel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hempel of Boise, Idaho.
Heather graduated from Kapaun-Mt. Carmel High School in Wichita, Kan., and received her nursing degree from Newman University, also in Wichita. She is employed as a surgical nurse at KU MedWest in Shawnee.
Bob graduated from Central Christian High School in Hutchison, Kan., and Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe. He is self-employed.
The couple plan a wedding this month. A reception will be April 18 at Terradyne Country Club in Wichita.

Point of View

Do you think the state should do more to help businesses near K-7 and Johnson Drive as an interchange is constructed?

Given the time the state has had to prepare, I don’t think completing the access road before starting/ closing Johnson Drive is an unreasonable request from these businesses or those of us who patronize them.
