Ghosts of past settlers live on live on in June 12 event

May 19, 2004

The Monticello Community Historical Society will bring to life the ghosts of the settlers of Monticello Township in western Shawnee for its Visions of the Past event Saturday, June 12.

The ghosts will roam the stones of Union Cemetery, 75th and Gleason Road, as visitors take a walking tour of the cemetery. Actors dressed in period clothing will portray some of the interesting and historically significant persons buried at the cemetery. Many of the actors will be direct descendants of the people, who they will bring to life by telling the stories of their lives in the Monticello Township.

Talking points

Do you know who you’re voting for in November?

“Chuck Baldwin; he’s the Constitutional Party candidate. It’s the only conservative choice on there, as far as I can tell.”
