Obit: Bruce “Bear” Meile
1939-2005
Bonner Springs
Bruce "Bear" J. Meile, 65, Bonner Springs, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at the home. A gathering of friends was held Tuesday evening at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with cremation following. A private burial of ashes will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Merriam Animal Haven in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012, (913) 422-4074.
Mr. Meile was born July 27, 1939, in Omaha, Neb., to John W. and Cecilia (Anglim) Meile. He married Rosemary Lindsay on April 5, 1985, at their home in Bonner Springs. He was a draftsman for KCP&L for 31 years retiring in 1997. He was a Kansas City Renaissance Festival Front Gate performer and a skilled Astrology Charter for more than 10 years. He and his wife have performed at other festivals throughout the United States. He was also a white water kayak instructor for the American Red Cross in the 1980s and 1990s. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Meile, of the home; a son, John Meile and wife, Karen, Naperville, Ill.; two stepsons, Raymond Lindsay and wife, Trish; and Jerry Lindsay, all of Kansas City, Kan.; and two granddaughters, Laura and Rachel Meile, Naperville, Ill.

Absolutely. We wouldn’t be able to sit here and eat lunch like this if it weren’t for the veterans. We’ve got millions of people that fought and died to save this country; it should be more than a bank holiday.
