Obit: Connie C. Kerns
1932-2005
Edwardsville
Connie Carol Kerns, 73, Edwardsville, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs, with burial in the Edwardsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Action of Wyandotte County or to Odyssey Hospice, both in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs KS 66012 (913) 422-4074.
Mrs. Kerns was born Jan. 7, 1932, in Bald Knob, Ark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester A. Kerns Jr., in 2003 and by a brother, Aaron Borst, and a sister, Anna Palmer.
Survivors include a daughter, Glenda L. Rider, and her husband, Joseph, Bonner Springs; two sons, Chester A. Kerns III and his wife, Tricia, Bonner Springs; and Gail L. Kerns, Erie, Ill.; two brothers, John Borst, Kansas City, Kan., and George Borst, Spring Hill; two sisters, Eunice Kelsay and her husband, Tom, Shawnee; and Pat Ulmer and her husband, Ewald, Sunnyvale, Calif; and nine grandchildren, Shea D. Stoner, Jennifer L. Rider, Bradley J. Rider, Melanie Wolfgang, Travis P. Kerns, Cody L. Kerns, Jessica M. Kerns, Kyle A. Kerns and Dakota "Bubba" N. Baker.

Absolutely. We wouldn’t be able to sit here and eat lunch like this if it weren’t for the veterans. We’ve got millions of people that fought and died to save this country; it should be more than a bank holiday.
