Obit: Mabel B. Sheehan

Mabel B. Sheehan, 96, Leavenworth, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, at the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital Geriatric Center, Winchester. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m.Thursday at the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel, 500 Oak St., Leavenworth, (913) 682-1614, followed by a service there. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Sheehan was born Jan. 4, 1909, in Jarbalo, the daughter of John Fredrick and Hattie Mae Trackwell Brune. She graduated from Jarbalo High School. After graduation she was employed as a switchboard operator for the Boling Telephone Co. in rural Leavenworth County. She was a member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor. She was married to Raymond F. Sheehan on Nov. 18, 1939, in Tonganoxie. They were active in farming and real estate until retirement. He died April 14, 1983.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Francis Brune; and three sisters, Blanche Barnhardt, Agnes Sample and Stella Morrow. Survivors include numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Holy Angels Catholic Church or St. John Hospital both in care of the funeral home.
