Obit: Robert F. Wood
1930-2005
Shawnee
Robert F. Wood, 75, of Shawnee, died Sunday, June 12, 2005. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee with burial at the Shawnee Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Wood was born April 14, 1930, in Hammond, Ind., to Landis and Josephine Wood. The family later moved to Rensselaer, Ind., where he grew up. After graduating high school, he attended Indiana University for three years where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, served in the finance office, and upon discharge, completed college earning a bachelor's degree. He worked for the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. for 11 years as district credit manager. He was then employed by Research Medical Center as business office manager and later as director of financial services. When Research became Health Midwest, he became president of one of its business subsidiaries, Mid States Financial Services. During this time he was active in HFMA serving one year as president. He retired in 1995. Before and after retirement he enjoyed playing golf with his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of the home; two sons, Duane and his wife, Cris, Olathe, and Ken, Shawnee; two daughters, Diana, San Diego, Calif., and Judy, Shawnee; four grandsons, Cole, Rory, Zach and Steven; three brothers, Bill, Chuck and Steve; and a sister, Alice, all of Indiana.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Kansas City Hospice, the MS Society or Animal Haven.
