‘The play’s the thing’ this weekend
Mill Valley, De Soto high school students take the stage
There will be plenty of rumors floating around this weekend at Mill Valley High School.
Mill Valley students will perform a farce sharing the name of the gossip -- Neil Simon's "Rumors" -- at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the school's Little Theater.
Tickets to the play may be purchased at the door. Prices are $4 for adults, $3 for children and $1 for Mill Valley students.
"Rumors," a comedy, begins when the Brocks, a New York City couple of note, decide to play host to a gathering of friends to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. The play builds on rumors that begin to fly when the first couple arrive, finding Mrs. Brock missing and Mr. Brock with a superficial gunshot wound on his head.
Meanwhile, De Soto High School students also are rehearsing for their spring play, set to open Thursday night.
De Soto High School will present "The Nerd" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the school, 35000 West 91st St.
Tickets are $3 for students and senior citizens and $5 for adults, and they may be purchased at the door.
DHS drama teacher Ben Bartlett said "The Nerd," a two-act comedy by Larry Shue, was "full of laughs" and sure to entertain audiences young and old.

Talking points
Do you think Veterans Day should be a prominent holiday?
Absolutely. We wouldn’t be able to sit here and eat lunch like this if it weren’t for the veterans. We’ve got millions of people that fought and died to save this country; it should be more than a bank holiday.
