Obit: Gary G. Hoover

Overland Park

Gary G. Hoover, 69, Overland Park, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at the University of Kansas Hospital. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Graveside services were at the St. Michael's Cemetery, Kimeo, Kan. Visitation was Monday at the Amos Family Chapel of Lenexa. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, KS 66214.

Mr. Hoover was born Aug. 25, 1935, in Kimeo to James and Velma (Adams) Hoover. He retired last year from a career in sales.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley (Giersch) Hoover; three sons, Steve Hoover and his wife, Heather, Overland Park; Gregg Hoover, Merriam; and Jerry Hoover, Overland Park; two brothers and their wives, James and Libby Hoover, Kansas City, Mo.; and Terry and Lenar Hoover, Greenleaf; sister, Phyllis Binkley, Topeka; and five grandchildren, Jenna, Lauren, Stephanie, Keith and Lily.

Absolutely. We wouldn’t be able to sit here and eat lunch like this if it weren’t for the veterans. We’ve got millions of people that fought and died to save this country; it should be more than a bank holiday.
