Obituary: Lula Mae James
Lula Mae James, 89, Olathe, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at the Center for Long Term Care of Olathe. Graveside services were held Saturday at Monticello Union Cemetery, Lenexa. Visitation was Friday at Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner.
Mrs. James was born April 6, 1917, in Kansas City, Kan. to Robert C. and Minnie May Willis Lawler. She spent her early years in Kansas City, Kan., moving to De Soto at the age of 10. She married Andy John James and they moved to Olathe, finally settling in Monticello Township. She was a member of the quilting club at Monticello United Methodist Church. She was a great homemaker who was devoted to her family. Gardening, handwork and crocheting were among her favorite activities. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1995; a brother, Eli; and two sisters, Margaret and Elsie. She is survived by two sons, John Robert James and Gerald W. James, both of Lenexa; two daughters, Betty, also of Lenexa, and Dorothy J. Sheldon, Stilwell; a sister, Mildred Hart, Watsonville, Calif.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
