Obituary: John F. Leavey

1918-2006

— John F. Leavey, 87, Pleasant Hill, Mo., formerly of Lake Quivira, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at the St. Mary's Medical Center, Blue Springs, Mo.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a rosary recitation will begin at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to either St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr., Shawnee KS 66203; St. Mary's Manor, 111 Mock Dr., Blue Springs MO 64015; or Crossroads Hospice, 8540 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City MO 64138.

Mr. Leavy was born Nov. 7, 1918, in Kansas City, Kan., to Hugh and Emma (Hohensinner) Leavey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude (Kellerman) Leavey, and his second wife, Barbara (Farmer) Leavey. Survivors include his daughter, Gertrude DeLuca and her husband, John, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; a son, Robert Leavey, Stockton, Mo.; a twin sister, Rose Hamam, Prairie Village; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
