Engagement: Vena-Ptacek
Mick and Linda Vena of Village of Lock Lloyd, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter, Kerri Michelle, to Cody John Ptacek, son of Darell and Linda Ptacek of Shawnee.
The future bride, a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, played basketball at William Jewell College where she graduated in December 2005 with a degree in elementary education. The future groom, a member of the men's basketball team at William Jewell, is pursuing a degree in business and marketing and will graduate in May 2006. He is a 2002 graduate of Mill Valley High School.
The couple plans a July 1, 2006 wedding at Central United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Mo., followed by a reception at the Westin Crown Center Hotel.

Absolutely. We wouldn’t be able to sit here and eat lunch like this if it weren’t for the veterans. We’ve got millions of people that fought and died to save this country; it should be more than a bank holiday.
