Soccer standout inks with Benedictine
Last month, Peter Clevinger, a forward for the three-time state champion St. Thomas Aquinas soccer team, signed a national letter of intent to play college soccer at Benedictine College in Atchison.
Clevinger said his decision to sign with Benedictine ultimately came down to selecting the school that would provide him the most in terms of the total package -- academics and athletics.
"It all came down to a great school and a great coach," Clevinger said. "I will have a chance to work with Coach (Rob) Herringer to fine-tune my skills and maybe with a lot of hard work to reach his level of achievement."
Clevinger, the recipient of several athletic and academic honors throughout his career, also said staying close to his hometown of Shawnee was a key factor.
"It was important for me to stay close to home so my parents could see me play as much as possible," Clevinger said. "They are my biggest fans."
