• Jim Cosgrove Live! 10-11 a.m. May 25. School is almost out for the big kids, so this is the annual Cosgrove-for-the-little-kids concert. Tickets are $3 per child ages 2 and up and go on sale May 1.

• Speaker Series: Singing Our Way Through History, 7-8:30 p.m. May 8 at Town Hall, 11600 Johnson Dr. The "On Q!" quartet will sing several old songs and share the history behind each song. Free.

• The 1950s All-Electric House, open 1-4 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. Step inside this 1954 "house of the future," a completely restored KCP&L show home. Cost is $2 for adults and $1 for children ages 12 and younger. Guided tours only.
• Made in Johnson County, 10-4:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and 1-4:30 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 12. This exhibit highlights Johnson County's entrepreneurial spirit, present products made in the county and highlighting the inventors who created them.
• Harriet Hopperdoodle's Hair-Brained History Test, 11 a.m. May 12. Take a trip through invention history in the Martin City Jr. Players production. Harriet's adventures lead her to Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison and others. Free.

Lanesfield School Historic Site

• School open 1-5 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. Practice penmanship, cipher math problems on a slate or participate in an old-fashioned spelling bee with a costumed school teacher at Lanesfield School. Built in 1869, the school is the only building remaining from the town of Lanesfield, a former Santa Fe Trail mail stop. Free admission.
• May Day at Lanesfield, 1-4 p.m. April 29. Watch a traditional Maypole dance and learn how to do it. There will also be live music, refreshments and May basket crafts for all ages.
