Legislators visit soldiers at Reed
Rep. Judy Morrison, R-Shawnee, with State Sen. Peggy Palmer, R-Augusta, recently met with soldiers from Kansas who are patients at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Morrison, chair-elect of the National Foundation for Women Legislators, and Palmer were in Washington, D.C., for leadership meetings, including a meeting with National Guard counterdrug coordinators and an event honoring women in politics, when reports of poor conditions at the facility broke in the news. Morrison and Palmer requested to visit with service members from Kansas currently at Walter Reed to see that they are receiving adequate care and services.
During their visit, the two legislators met with several members of the armed services who were receiving treatment at Walter Reed as well as family members who also there.
