Obituary: Robert Keith Wilber
Robert Keith Wilber died March 2, 2007, at the Comfort House in McAllen, Texas.
He was born Oct. 6, 1919, in Kansas City, Mo. He was a member of the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945.
He was an executive with Boy Scouts of America until his retirement in 1985. Since then, he and his wife, Eunice, have spent their time traveling the United States doing volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity.
He was an avid collector of model railroad trains. He was a member of the Overland Stage Barbershop Chorus in Overland Park Kansas and a member of The Men of a Chord Chorus in Weslaco, Texas. He was also actively involved as a docent with the Swope Park Zoo in Kansas City, Mo.
He enjoyed teaching English as a second language for the school districts in their winter home of Weslaco, Texas.
Mr.Wilber was an active member of the Lenexa United Methodist Church where he taught the adult Sunday school class for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eunice M. Wilber; his son, Richard Wilber of Lubbock, Texas; and a daughter, Susan Kappenman of Sioux Falls, S.D. He has one grandson, Brian Johnsen, of Egan, Minn.
A celebration of his life will be held later at the Lenexa United Methodist Church.
