Egg hunters ready for annual event
March 20, 2007
The fields at Gum Springs Park will once again be dotted with 35,000 brightly-colored, candy-filled eggs for the city's annual Easter Egg Hunt March 31.
The fun begins with the sound of the fire truck siren at 10 a.m. in the park, just east of 65th and Quivira. Children ages 10 and under may participate, and everyone should bring their own basket or bag to gather eggs for the hunt, organized by the Shawnee Parks and Recreation Department and the Shawnee Hy-Vee.
Children will hunt for eggs based on their age, with each field covering a different age category. Infants and toddlers ages 3 and under will be on Field C; children ages 4-5 will be on Field B; ages 6-7 on Field A; and ages 8-10 will hunt for eggs on the soccer fields.
Before and after the hunt, children will find a moonwalk, music and more on Field D. In the case of rain, the hunt will be move to April 7. Call 981-2007 for inclement weather information.

Talking points
How often do you go to the library?
“I almost never go there at all — only with my wife, Kim. She checks out, I’d say, at least three books a week. The kids go with her, and she teaches them how to find things.”
