September 25, 2007

— St. Joseph Church will celebrate its third annual Fall Festival the weekend of Sept. 28-29.

Friday's events start with a fried chicken dinner from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the parish's McDevitt Hall (church basement), followed by bingo until 8:45 p.m. Mouse races will be held on the church parking lot from 7 to 10 pm. Family dancing to the music of disc jockey Tony C wraps up the evening on the church parking lot, 7-11 p.m. In case of rain, the dance will be held in McDevitt Hall.

From 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, festival activities on the Early Education Center grounds west of the church will include food and beverage booths, games and attractions for all ages, raffles, talent acts and entertainment, as well as special booths with books and jigsaws, dolls, and gift baskets.

A Craft Fair hosted by the St. Joseph Ladies Guild will be held Saturday in conjunction with the festival. The fair is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Early Education Center small gym and parking lot west of the church. A variety of handmade items will be on display at 50-60 booths for early Christmas shoppers.

Talking points

Do you think Veterans Day should be a prominent holiday?

Absolutely. We wouldn’t be able to sit here and eat lunch like this if it weren’t for the veterans. We’ve got millions of people that fought and died to save this country; it should be more than a bank holiday.
