Letter: Police no-shows
April 29, 2008
To the editor:
Shawnee cops are known for their tickets. My wife never speeds and got one at a red light. I’ve had many inexcusable experiences with them myself. The other night was no big deal but just as aggravating.
At 7 p.m., a man in gang attire started blasting his car stereo so loud my home half a block away shook. It woke my baby.
Eventually I called the police. No show. I called again. They said they were too busy. After 2 hours, I quit watching for them to show.
Eventually he went away.

It sounds like your police department and/or municipality doesn't value quality of life. I feel that quality of life is as important as life itself. I feel that these pavement-shaking children, with their subwoofers blaring, are adding to the ruination of communities with their unbelievably loud music. Actually, it's not the loudness of the music; to be specific, it's the bass. Shakes your house? Who would have heard of something like that twenty years ago? I feel that if a person doesn't know enough to be considerate, then, sadly, consideration will have to be shoved down his throat by imposing large fines or, as they are doing in some American cities, towing and impounding their cars, to be retrieved for a large fee.
