Police investigating reports of gunshots
August 25, 2008
Reports of shots fired in a Shawnee neighborhood have police on alert.
Police investigated reports that shots had been fired at about 3:40 a.m. Sunday morning in the 6000 block of Rosehill Road but found no evidence, Captain Ron Copeland said. Later that morning, about 9 a.m., a woman living in the area called to report that she had discovered bullet holes in her house. Officers found the holes near the front family room window of the home but found no shell casings in the area.
The woman told police she had heard something that sounded like gunshots in the night but had gone back to sleep. She said she didn't know of anyone who might want to harm her. Her 10-year-old daughter was in the home at the time of the incident.
Police are investigating if there are any ties to a similar report of shots fired at 2:20 a.m. Saturday at the Kings Cove Apartments in the 7300 block of Switzer in Merriam.

Talking points
Do you think Veterans Day should be a prominent holiday?
Absolutely. We wouldn’t be able to sit here and eat lunch like this if it weren’t for the veterans. We’ve got millions of people that fought and died to save this country; it should be more than a bank holiday.
