The Maranatha Eagles boys basketball team pulled off a convincing 60-41 win over Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy behind senior Joe Rowden’s 17-point, 6-rebound performance. Unfortunately for the Eagles, 5-13, that was the high note in a weekend full of basketball for Maranatha who fell to St. James Academy, 60-31, on Friday and Mid-Buchanan, 51-32, Saturday. In Thursday’s game, the Eagles jumped out to an early lead against the Rams by working the ball inside to senior center Jeff Kreiling. However, Brand battled back with strong play from junior swingman Jon Friedman and senior forward Naftali Rosenthal to even the score and take the lead. Foul trouble plagued Kreiling in the first half and the senior sat on the bench most of the second quarter.
