Shawnee youths among winners in bookmark design contest
June 4, 2008
A kindergartner and a third-grader from Shawnee were among the 10 winners of the Johnson County Library’s 2008 Bookmark Design Contest.
Adit Agarwal, 5, was the winner in the preschool to kindergarten category of the contest. Anna Clements, 9, was one of three winners in the third- to fourth-grade category. The contest had categories for ages preschool through adult, and the 10 winning bookmarks were selected from more than 400 entries.
The contest is an annual part of the library’s celebration of National Library Week in April.

Talking points
How often do you go to the library?
“I almost never go there at all — only with my wife, Kim. She checks out, I’d say, at least three books a week. The kids go with her, and she teaches them how to find things.”
