SM Ford receives company’s top award
June 17, 2008
The employees of Shawnee Mission Ford, 11501 Shawnee Mission Parkway, gathered Thursday to formally accept Ford Motor Company’s highest honor, The 2007 President’s Award.
The award is earned by an elite group — only 340 out of nearly 4,000 dealerships received the award. It is given annually to dealers who provide their customers with first-rate treatment throughout the life of their Ford vehicle.
“This organization has always distinguished itself in terms of establishing business, in terms of going after vehicle sales, in terms of growing parts sales — and you are one of our largest parts wholesalers in the region — and your focus on body shop and focus on service and bringing your customers back,” said Bob Bremer, regional manager for Kansas City.
Darryl B. Hazel, president of Ford Customer Service Division and senior vice president of Ford Motor Company, came to Kansas City to present the award and told Shawnee Mission Ford employees they should be proud of the work they did to receive the award.
“To get it you have to be the best in your group in customer satisfaction, but you also have to have a superior performance in vehicle sales as well, so this is the sort of thing that everybody in this room contributed to it,” Hazel said.

Talking points
How often do you go to the library?
“I almost never go there at all — only with my wife, Kim. She checks out, I’d say, at least three books a week. The kids go with her, and she teaches them how to find things.”
