Letter: ‘Perfect storm’ thanks
March 4, 2008
To the Editor:
I wanted to thank the Shawnee road crew and the EMT team for their assistance during my recent medical emergency on Feb. 21.
My son-in-law called the experience my "perfect storm." The foul weather in the early morning caused terrible road conditions, and a combination of the flu and blood pressure medication resulted in my dehydrating to the point I could not move. About 6 a.m., my wife called 911, and the EMT team of Brad and Anthony arrived in minutes despite the icy roads and started my treatment. The fire truck that assisted slid to the bottom of our street and had to make a second pass. A call went to the road crew to salt the area to allow the vehicles to exit. The road crew arrived expeditiously, allowing the vehicles to proceed to the ER. Thanks again to all those involved for your professionalism and service to the community.
