- Sunflower League coaches took notice of the work Shawnee Mission Northwest players and coaches on the basketball court. Players and coaches Monday received numerous honors for their contributions on the court. Coach Ben Meseke was named Sunflower League boys basketball coach of the year. He led the Cougars to a share of the Sunflower League title with Leavenworth. Both teams finished with 9-2 records.
