May 6, 2008
Shawnee City Council member Mickey Sandifer of Ward IV received the Leadership Fellow Bronze Certificate of Achievement from the National League of Cities for his completion in the first level of the leadership program.
Sandifer completed his certificate requirements in March.
The program is offered through the League's Leadership Training Institute, which provides professional development opportunities that accentuate personal skills and abilities needed to facilitate positive change and innovation within their communities.
Sandifer will be formally recognized in November at the NLC Congress of Cities Conference in Orlando, Fla.

Talking points
Do you think Veterans Day should be a prominent holiday?
Absolutely. We wouldn’t be able to sit here and eat lunch like this if it weren’t for the veterans. We’ve got millions of people that fought and died to save this country; it should be more than a bank holiday.
