Later, the imps will mock the classic trivia game Trivial Pursuit. Admission to either show is $5.

¢ Read to a Dog, 1 p.m. Saturday and June 3 and 10. Children can practice reading to enhance skills or just for fun with these dogs, who are specially trained to be good listeners.

¢ Meet the Mystery Author, 7-8:30 p.m. May 20. Chicago mystery authors Libby Fischer Hellmann and Michael Allen Dymmoch will discuss their latest works, and their books will be available for purchase and signing. Both authors' most recent works feature teen protagonists.

¢ The library will be closed May 25 and 26 for Memorial Day.

¢ The Magic of Reading with Devin Henderson, 10:30 a.m. June 4. Come to the library for fun and games with this local magician. The 45-minute show is designed for ages 4 to 12.

¢ Speaker Series, 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Town Hall. "Do, Make Do, or Do Without: Daily Life in Kansas, 1861-1961." Phillip Thomas will examine the nature, dilemmas and pleasures of daily life for Kansans during the state's first 100 years.

¢ The 1950s All-Electric House, open 1-4 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. Step inside this 1954 "house of the future," a completely restored KCP&L show home. Cost is $2 for adults and $1 for children ages 12 and younger. Guided tours only.

¢ Growing Up Johnson County in the 1960s & 1970s, 10-4:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and 1-4:30 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 30. Johnson County experience tremendous growth in the '60s and '70s, and this exhibit examines the time through the eyes of the people who grew up in it.

¢ Pop 'n Play at the Museum, 9-11 a.m. today and May 21. Join the museum every other Wednesday for activities designed for children ages 9 months to 3 years. These learning activities help develop sensory and motor skills. Cost: $1 per child.

¢ Story time at the Museum, 9-10 a.m. May 14. Join the museum on the third Wednesday of the month for preschool story time and craft. Cost: $1 per child.

Do you think Veterans Day should be a prominent holiday?

Absolutely. We wouldn’t be able to sit here and eat lunch like this if it weren’t for the veterans. We’ve got millions of people that fought and died to save this country; it should be more than a bank holiday.
