The Mill Valley softball team celebrates with its regional championship plaque after hammering Pittsburg in the finals, 13-0. The Jaguars improved to 9-11 this year and are headed to the Class 5A state tournament.

Pittsburg — The Mill Valley softball team is headed to state.

The Lady Jaguars entered the Class 5A regional tournament Monday as the No. 6 seed with a 7-11 record. They exited the tournament as champions after shutting out No. 3 Bishop Miege in the semifinals, 4-0, and hammering No. 2 Pittsburg in the finals, 13-0.

Senior pitcher Ashley Jones tossed a four-hitter against Miege and followed it up with a dazzling two-hitter in the finals. Meanwhile, her teammates hammered seven hits against Miege and 13 against Pittsburg.
