Mill Valley, St. James set for soccer showdown
Berth in state quarterfinals at stake today
May 15, 2008
The first time they played this season, St. James Academy's girls soccer team handed Mill Valley a 2-0 loss.
That was a regular-season matchup, however. The stakes are much bigger this time.
St. James (13-3-1) will play at Mill Valley (13-3) at 5 p.m. today in the Class 5-1A regional championship. The winner advances to the state quarterfinals. The loser's season is over.
Both teams have had similar seasons, ranging from their nearly identical records to their 8-0 victories in the regional semifinals on Tuesday.
St. James hammered Basehor-Linwood on Tuesday and got two goals apiece from Rachel Weimer and Bethany Smith. Mill Valley's rout came against Tonganoxie as Kelly Donaghy scored three goals and Amanda Franklin and Taylor Garretson each added two.

Do you know who you’re voting for in November?
“Chuck Baldwin; he’s the Constitutional Party candidate. It’s the only conservative choice on there, as far as I can tell.”
