Mill Valley to play No. 1 Arkansas City at state softball
May 17, 2008
The Mill Valley softball team executed its underdog role to perfection during the Class 5A regional tournament when it knocked off No. 3-seed Bishop Miege and No. 2-seed Pittsburg to advance to the state tournament.
The Lady Jaguars (9-11) will face an even tougher task at 5 p.m. Friday at the Class 5A state tournament at Two Rivers Youth Complex in Wichita when they take on No. 1 Arkansas City (18-2). The Bulldogs are the two-time defending state champions.
Other schools competing at state are Wichita Bishop Carroll, Topeka Seaman, Great Bend, Shawnee Heights, Salina South and St. Thomas Aquinas.
Talking points
Whom do you think John McCain should choose as his running mate?
“Sometimes he has a perception of being ambivalent, and he could pick a woman who has a strong record — there are some good choices out there. He’s probably going to have to make some choices about what voters he wants; if he chooses someone like Mitt Romney, he could get more conservative voters.”
