Thunder cruises in volleyball opener
September 4, 2008
The St. James Academy volleyball team kicked off its season in dominant fashion Tuesday night when it routed a pair of Missouri schools.
The Thunder drilled Park Hill, 25-16, 25-13, and then disposed of Notre Dame de Sion, 25-19, 25-13.
St. James (2-0) featured a balanced attack. Senior setter Rachel Gray paced the Thunder with 28 assists to go along with 11 digs and a pair of aces, and junior setter Lauren Brown had 17 assists and 10 digs. Senior hitters Kelly Kolich and Brook Jansen had 14 and 11 kills, respectively, and Jansen added four blocks. Sophomore hitter Hanna Forst had nine kills, five digs and three blocks. Bridget Blowey aided the defensive effort with 11 digs.
The Thunder return to the court at 5 p.m. Monday at the Ottawa Quadrangular.

Absolutely. We wouldn’t be able to sit here and eat lunch like this if it weren’t for the veterans. We’ve got millions of people that fought and died to save this country; it should be more than a bank holiday.
