Buenger leads MVHS tennis to 2nd

Mill Valley sophomore Lindsey Buenger highlighted a strong showing by the Jaguars at their home tennis tournament on Saturday.
Buenger, a 2007 state qualifier and honorable mention All-Metro selection, cruised through the early rounds of the tournament and earned a berth in the finals. She dropped an 8-1 decision to Blue Valley's Ashley Tiefel in the championship match.
Blue Valley won the team title with 10 points. Mill Valley, Spring Hill and Shawnee Mission East tied for second with 9 points apiece.
Mill Valley plays at 4 p.m. today at Blue Valley West.
ST. JAMES STAYS BUSY
The St. James Academy girls tennis team continued its strong season on Sept. 15 at the Topeka Seaman Invitational.
Three Thunder players returned home with third-place medalis.
Sarah Snodgrass earned a third-place finish in singles and Bree Honer and Katie Wohletz teamed for the other two medals in doubles.
The Thunder are back in action at 4 p.m. today against St. Teresa's at the Plaza Tennis Center.
