Mayor to attend leadership summit
September 30, 2008
Shawnee Mayor Jeff Meyers is scheduled to be among the elected leaders and managers from Johnson County’s city and county governments who will gather Friday for the third annual Johnson County Leadership Summit.
County Commission chairman Annabeth Surbaugh organized the event, extending invitations to elected leaders, city administrators and key managers from each of the county’s 19 cities.
The summit will be at the Johnson County Administration Building, 111 S. Cherry St., Olathe. Its aim is to bring together officials to focus on expanding networks, identifying shared interests and gauging prospects for enhanced partnerships to meet community needs.

Talking points
Do you think Veterans Day should be a prominent holiday?
Absolutely. We wouldn’t be able to sit here and eat lunch like this if it weren’t for the veterans. We’ve got millions of people that fought and died to save this country; it should be more than a bank holiday.
