Shawnee children among top winners in bookmark contest

Two Shawnee children were among the winners of the Johnson County Library and the Friends of the Johnson County Library’s 2009 Bookmark Design Contest.
The annual contest was part of the library’s celebration of National Library Week (April 12-18).
Winners from each category are listed below:
In Grades 1-2, Adit Agarwal, Shawnee, was the winner. Anna Clements, Shawnee, was one of two winners in the Grades 3-4 category.
Other winners were:
• Preschool-Kindergarten:, Ryan Imhoff, 5, Overland Park
• Grades 3-4: Erika Lobo,10, Overland Park.
• Grades 5-6: Betsy Cha, 11, Overland Park; Erica Chang, 11, Olathe; Riya Rana, 9, Overland Park
Grades 7-8: Halie Snider, 14, Lenexa
Grades 9-12: Christine Perinchery, 15, Leawood
Adults, ages 18 and up: Janice Haney, Gardner
The ten winning bookmarks were selected from over 425 entries received. Each of the 2008 design contest winners received $25 and copies of their bookmarks at the award ceremony during the April 15 Library Board meeting.
The 2009 winning designs have been printed onto bookmarks and will be available at all Johnson County Library locations.
