Bluejacket-Flint students “too good for drugs”
Sixth grade students at Bluejacket-Flint Elementary school are too good for drugs.
A group of students joined the "Too Good for Drug" club to learn ways to stay away from alcohol, tobacco and narcotics.
During the group's December meeting, students saw a familiar face in Shawnee Police officer Joe Lawless.
Lawless served as the schools D.A.R.E. officer for many years until the program was discontinued a year ago.
He talked with students about the negative effects of alcohol, informing them that 25,000 people are killed each year by drunk drivers in the U.S.
Students tried on simulation googles to better understand the effects and dangers of alcohol.
