Disturbance ends peacefully
A domestic disturbance forced Shawnee Police to shut down a Shawnee neighborhood street last week.
About 3:45 p.m. Dec. 29, officers responded to the 6700 block of Red Oak Drive after a man in his mid-20s got into a physical argument with his parents. Capt. Bill Hisle said the man then told his family he was armed and barricaded himself in the basement. Officers blocked the street and set up a perimeter around the house, and additional officers were called to the area.
Officers contacted the man by phone and about 6:15, he came out of the house peacefully. He was taken into custody for disorderly conduct, battery and obstructing the legal process and transported to the Johnson County Adult Detention Center.
