Firm continues layoffs
Perceptive Software, 22701 W. 68th Terrace, announced Monday that in a second round of layoffs, it had eliminated 53 positions, 49 from its Shawnee headquarters and four from its office in the United Kingdom. Perceptive cut 23 positions in mid-November.
Paul Arnhold, spokesman for the firm, said Perceptive had bumped up its staff in the past two years to nearly 550 between its headquarters in Shawnee and international offices to match its growth rate, which had been 45 percent annually over the past decade. The current economy made maintaining that staff level unprofitable.
As with the first round of cuts, the positions eliminated were not concentrated in any specific department, Arnhold said. He said the company expects to continue to grow by 10 to 20 percent in the next year.
“We continue to be profitable, and continue to make investments in research and development and customer service,” he said. “We do expect to continue to grow, but for the short-term, it will be at a slower pace than what we’ve seen.”
