USD 232 hires director of teaching and learning

De Soto's USD 232 announced the appointent of Earl Martin as the director of teaching and learning beginning in the 2009-2010 school year.
For the past nine years, Martin served as the director of elementary education for the Olathe School District.
Martin will be responsible for leading the district's focus on curriculum and instructon. He replaces Bret Church, who resigned on April 24.
Martin was recognized in 2008 as Administrator of the Year by the Kansas Association of Health, P.E., Recreation and Dance. THe Association of Teacher Educators named Martin a co-recipient of the Distinguished Program for Teacher Education in 2008.
It was unclear when Martin will take over duties in the De Soto District, but is expected to start between July 1 and August 31.

Do you think the state should do more to help businesses near K-7 and Johnson Drive as an interchange is constructed?
Given the time the state has had to prepare, I don’t think completing the access road before starting/ closing Johnson Drive is an unreasonable request from these businesses or those of us who patronize them.
