JCCC reports record summer enrollment
June 23, 2009
A total of 10,029 students are enrolled in summer classes at Johnson County Community College, up 9.7 percent from the 9,141 enrolled a year ago.
This is the highest summer enrollment the college has ever recorded.
The number of credit hours in which students are enrolled is 43,911, a 10.6 percent increase from last summer’s total of 39,710, also a record. Summer classes at JCCC began June 1.
“Students know the quality of our classes,” said Terry A. Calaway, JCCC president. “Picking up a few extra hours in the summer allows them to keep up their grades and perhaps graduate just a little bit earlier.”

Point of View
Do you do anything to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?
“We are all Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. My family won the best in family floats in Shawnee’s St. Patrick’s Day parade a few years back. We got to have a big trophy for the year. My sons love throwing out candy on the parade route.”
