Three Shawnee squads in preseason KBCA rankings
November 25, 2009
The Shawnee Mission Northwest boys basketball team's bid for another state tournament berth just received a strong vote of confidence from the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association.
The Cougars are ranked third in the KBCA's Class 6A preseason rankings. They trail only No. 1 Wichita Heights and No. 2 Wichita East.
Meanwhile, the St. James Academy boys are ranked fifth in the Class 4A preseason poll.
Shawnee Mission North has the only local girls squad in the preseason rankings. The Indians are No. 7 in the Class 6A poll.

Point of View
Do you think the state should do more to help businesses near K-7 and Johnson Drive as an interchange is constructed?
Given the time the state has had to prepare, I don’t think completing the access road before starting/ closing Johnson Drive is an unreasonable request from these businesses or those of us who patronize them.
Question of the week
Which area team will last longest in this year’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament?
