Mill Valley softball sweeps Ward, stays unbeaten in KVL
The Mill Valley softball team maintained its position atop the Kaw Valley League standings with a doubleheader sweep of Bishop Ward on Tuesday at the De Soto 3&2 Complex.
The Jaguars won the first game which counts in the league standings, 4-0, and then battled to a 7-5 victory in the nightcap.
Jillian Jobe continued her dominant season from the circle with a strong pitching performance in game one, and Katelyn Appleby — still working her way into the rotation while recovering from an injury — also threw a solid game.
MVHS coach Sarah Haub said Jobe, Taylor Brunson, Kelli Spring, Taisza Roseberry and Katie Yoder all had strong showings at the plate during the doubleheader.
Mill Valley (5-1 overall, 3-0 KVL) next plays at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Tonganoxie.
