The Shawnee Mission Northwest girls swimming and diving team won a triangular meet Tuesday against Turner and Shawnee Mission West to close out the regular season.
The Cougars posted numerous top-four finishes.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Shelby Connor, Hannah Singhal, Hannah Young and Carly Iverson highlighted the day as they finished first and earned a berth in the state championships.
The group was equally strong individually. Connor earned a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle and took second in the 500 freestyle. Singhal won the 100 freestyle and 200 individual medley. Iverson placed second in the 50 freestyle.
Megan Kirchner took third in the 100 backstroke and Liz Biron was fourth.
In diving, Mallory Ayers placed second.
The Cougars next compete Friday and Saturday, May 7-8, at the Sunflower League Championships at California Trail Junior High.
