Mayor’s Christmas tree fund totals $17,000

The city of Shawnee recently announced total contributions to the 2009 Mayor’s Christmas Tree fund.

Contributions totalling more than $10,000 were announced at Shawnee’s Christmas Around Town event Dec. 5, but donations continued to come in and eventually totalled more than $17,000.

This year’s fund benefitted four organizations: Rebuilding Together Shawnee, Shawnee Community Services, the Shawnee Storm Special Olympics Team and Sunflower House. Mayor Jeff Meyers thanked everyone who donated.
