SMNW senior receives scholarship, trip to Washington D.C.
January 28, 2010
Shawnee Mission Northwest senior Nathaniel Zoschke's love of journalism got him a ticket to Washington D.C.
Nathaniel was selected as the Al Neuharth Free Spirit Scholarship and Conference Program winner from Kansas.
The scholarship, founded in 1999 by the Freedom Forum, recognizes outstanding high school seniors who demonstrate an interest in journalism.
The Freedom Forum selects two students from each state, a boy and a girl, to attend the conference in Washington D.C. to meet with journalists and newsmakers.
The scholarship was created in honor of Al Neuharth, founder of Freedom Forum, Newseum and USA TODAY.

Point of View
Do you think the state should do more to help businesses near K-7 and Johnson Drive as an interchange is constructed?
Given the time the state has had to prepare, I don’t think completing the access road before starting/ closing Johnson Drive is an unreasonable request from these businesses or those of us who patronize them.
Question of the week
Which area team will last longest in this year’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament?
