SMSD joins High School Ad Network

March 1, 2010

Advertising in the Shawnee Mission School District just got easier.

The district joined Shout Marketing's High School Ad Network program, which launched Monday.

SMSD is the first and only district in the Kansas City metro to join the network.

Shout Marketing will exclusively represent SMSD's interests in securing sponsors for on-site advertising at select facilities.

The network allows advertisers to purchase banners and other signage at individual high schools and high school facilities for discounts.

In a news release from Shout Marketing, Rusty Newman, director of student services and athletics for the SMSD, said the partnership will bring much needed relief and allow schools to avoid some cuts to both educational, extracurricular and sporting activities.

Jess Theobald, president of Shout Marketing said in the same news release that the partnership provides monetary resources to schools, as well as, scholarships specifically for SMSD students.

"Advertisers that want to speak to a very difficult to reach teen demographic, as well as their parents, can do so at a very affordable cost, and know that they are doing their local schools and students a great service at the same time."

Shout Marketing is a full service advertising and marketing firm based in Wichita, with local offices in Leawood.

Great, the state refuses to fund schools and so we have to allow advertisers direct access to our students. Of course if advertising wasn't exempt from sales tax perhaps the state coffers wouldn't be so empty.
Looks like we are the ONLY school district this company has signed up, at least we are the only school district listed as a client on Shout Marketing's website. I wonder if this was really a wise decision by the school board.
