SMSD students pick up journalism awards

Shawnee Mission High School journalists collected more than 80 awards at the Kansas Press Association's Regional Journalism Contest.
All of the Shawnee Mission High School journalism programs competed in the 5A-6A category against other area schools.
SMSD collected many first place awards, helping the district earn more awards than any other district in the competition.
Shawnee MIssion North, Shawnee Mission Northwest and Shawnee Mission East earned more awards than any other schools.
Students who placed at the Regional competition will compete at the state level on May 1 at Kansas University.
