Shawnee Courtyard wins high company award

For the fifth year in a row, the Courtyard by Marriott Kansas City Shawnee has been recognized by Marriott International as a brand leader in guest service excellence with a coveted Gold Award.
RHW Management of Overland Park manages the Courtyard, which opened in 2005 at Interstate 435 and Midland Drive.
To receive the Gold Award, the hotel had to obtain an overall guest satisfaction rating in the top 10 percent of the brand, which includes nearly 900 Courtyards worldwide.
“We have an unbelievable team dedicated to providing outstanding service to our guests, and we will soon have a new lobby with which to continue that trend,” general manager Ryan Cipolla, who has been with the Shawnee Courtyard since its opening, said in a prepared statement. “Another important aspect of our hotel is having hometown management and ownership.”
Jack Waters, the hotel’s owner, said he was proud of the Courtyard employees.
“Our associates are service experts and take ownership in everything they do,” he said. “It’s our people that make the difference.”
