Shawnee projects make KDOT list
February 3, 2011
Two projects in Shawnee’s portion of Kansas Highway 7 will receive funding from the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Corridor Management Program, the department announced Thursday.
KDOT is offering partial funding to complete the Shawnee projects and 11 others, which have an estimated total cost of $7.5 million. The projects are scheduled for state fiscal years 2012 and 2013.
Shawnee’s projects are intersection improvements at K-7 and 75th Street and a traffic signal upgrade at K-7 and 43rd Street.
KDOT’s Corridor Management Program partners with local governments to develop transportation plans for highways experiencing growth and development.
Plans aim to create transportation environments that are safe, efficient and supportive of long-term economic activity, according to KDOT’s announcement.
Other projects on the list announced Thursday include intersection improvements for U.S. Highway 56 in Gardner and Douglas County and a new frontage road along U.S. Highway 24 in Leavenworth County.
