Chamber offers scholarship

The Shawnee Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for its annual Betty Charlton Scholarship award.
The $1,500 scholarship was founded in memory of Betty Charlton, a long-time chamber employee, to provide education assistance to area students.
Applicants must be a high school senior who demonstrates involvement in community leadership and has the equivalent of a 3.0 grade-point average. An official copy of the student’s transcript must accompany the application to be considered for the scholarship.
Scholarship applications are due to the Shawnee Chamber office by 5 p.m. Thursday, March 31. The recipient will be recognized at the June monthly membership luncheon.
For more information regarding criteria or to request an application, call the chamber office at (913) 631-6545. Applications can also be downloaded from the Chamber’s website, shawneekschamber.com or the Greater Community Foundation’s website, gkccf.org. Select “Resource Center,” “Scholarship Search.” Click “View All Scholarships” at the top of the page, scroll down the listings to “B” to find the Betty Charlton Scholarship Fund.
