Christmas Around Town coming Dec. 3
In case of inclement weather, pre-lighting entertainment will move inside City Hall
UPDATE: The city is reminding residents and businesses that, in case of inclement weather on Saturday, the Mayor's Tree Lighting Ceremony will go on as planned at 5:15 p.m. However, pre-lighting entertainment, which begins at 4:30 p.m., will take place inside City Hall.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand for Shawnee’s annual Mayor’s Tree Lighting and Christmas Around Town, set for Dec. 3.
The evening begins at 4:30 p.m. with music and dance groups performing in the City Hall parking lot, 11110 Johnson Drive. At 5:15 p.m., Santa will help Mayor Jeff Meyers throw the switch to light up the city’s Christmas tree.
Festivities continue from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Shawnee Town 1929, where children will be able to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, listen to musical performances, take carriage rides and participate in games and activities. Downtown businesses also are planning open houses throughout the afternoon.
