Historical Hauntings set for Oct. 29 at Shawnee Town
Shawnee Town 1929’s annual Historical Hauntings event will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at Shawnee Town, 11600 Johnson Drive.
Trick-or-treaters can wind their way through shadowy paths where costumed businesspeople, civic leaders and museum volunteers will be handing out candy in front of the museum’s historic buildings. Other activities will include costume and eyeball-counting contests and hay rides.
Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods or cash donations for Harvesters.
The Optimist Club of Shawnee-Mission will again sell hot dogs, nachos and other snacks at the “Ghoul Café,” and a professional photographer will be taking and selling photographs of costumed kids.
Several area schools will also be getting in on the holiday fun. Most schools will have fall parades and parties, but carnivals and "trunk-or-treats" will also take place around the area. Below is a list of festivities offered at Shawnee-area schools.
